Most innovation events ask companies to pitch. This one works the other way around.
On Tuesday 6 October, Lantis will present two concrete technology challenges it is facing on the Oosterweel Project and will answer your questions about them. You come to understand the problem properly, ask what you need to ask, and decide afterwards whether you have a solution that fits.
Companies get the chance to pitch their solution to Lantis at a follow-up session on Tuesday 27 October.
Lantis is the public project owner delivering the Oosterweel Verbinding, the mobility and livability programme that closes the Antwerp highway through new tunnels and redesigned infrastructure on both banks of the Scheldt.
Beyond construction, Lantis is preparing for the long-term management, maintenance and operation of that infrastructure, which is where both challenges come from.

Challenge 1: Information Intelligence
The Oosterweel project rests on decades of agreements, collaboration arrangements, permits, permit conditions and contract data, held in both structured and unstructured formats. Lantis wants that knowledge accessible in an accurate, reliable and user-friendly way.
Three concrete angles:
- Contractor submissions arriving through the Acceptance App: automatic summarising, detecting what changed against the previous version, routing to the right expert, and a first impact assessment based on historical cases.
- Technical datasheets and other PDFs from contractors and manufacturers that follow no standard structure: automatic interpretation, conversion into the required information standard, and mapping to the MOW Object Type Library.
- Context-aware extraction of attributes that may only become relevant later in the asset lifecycle.

Challenge 2: Smart Image Processing
Lantis and its partners collect large volumes of visual data across both the construction and the operational phase. Today, most of it is interpreted manually.
Three concrete angles:
- Drone footage and 360-degree imagery from the construction site: automatic detection of deviations between captured images and the BIM design model, taking contractually accepted tolerances into account.
- Automatic monitoring of project progress against planning, including schedules and payment milestones.
- Inspection imagery on completed infrastructure, enriched with as-built BIM models, location and orientation data, so that anomalies, like cracks, structural defects, graffiti, become searchable, object-based structured information.

What happens after the event
Companies that want to take it further pitch their solution to Lantis at a follow-up session on Tuesday 27 October at The Beacon.
Practical details on that session (format, pitch length, how to apply for a slot) follow shortly after 6 October.
Attending does not commit you to pitching, and pitching does not commit Lantis to anything, but everyone who applies gets an answer.
